Hand-lettered signs, helmets, parts, motorcycles, and all sorts of things I'm interested in.

1965 BSA C15 Trials Bike

Field Correspondent Brother Tom sent these pictures in from Victoria.  Very inspirational.  Time to haul out my C15 project.

1960's Parilla Cafe Racer

I believe this one is a 175 cc single from the 1960's. The gentleman who owns this one has quite a few older immaculate Italian bikes.

Old Gas Station

This old timer is in really rough shape, but still sports some of the original signage.  I wonder if it will be knocked down soon.

Triumph Bonneville and Moto Guzzi Ballabio V11 in Washington

Hand-Lettering in Shelton, Washington

I spotted this piece of faded hand-lettering recently in the town of Shelton, which has a good collection of old signage.

Giordano's Vintage Motors

On the way to Castle Rock, we stopped in at Giordano's Vintage Motors in Carnation, Washington.  This is one of the coolest car shops I've seen.  Old collector cars and vintage bikes; everything from Porsches to Honda Z50 monkey bikes!  Well worth a visit if you're in Carnation.  Check out their inventory on their website.

Racing Legend Mert Lawwill

Yes, that's racing legend and On Any Sunday star Mert Lawwill at Castle Rock.  Poor quality picture taken on an awful camera.  If you squint and look at it sideways, you can just make it out.

AMA Grand National TT Flat Track Racing Action at Castle Rock, Washington

Brother Tom and I made the trip to check the TT at Castle Rock this past weekend.  Sammy Halbert took the win in his class as well as the Dash for Cash.  It was good to see Smokin' Joe Kopp come back for a race at Castle Rock, as he cleaned up the competition the last time I saw him race at this track.  He didn't win this time around.  Also at the track that night was racing legend Mert Lawwill, who was speaking about a prosthetic device cause he supports.  I was hoping to get an autograph, but no such luck.  Lot's of folks in attendance, and many showed up on bikes.  We rode the fine Washington back roads down to the event and back the next day.  Beautiful weather, nice people, and exciting racing!

August Sign of the Month

This is a cool old sign from the seventies, and its a type I remember well as a kid.  This one still hangs outside in the town of Concrete, Washington.  It has some nice hand-lettering on the bottom that has stood the test of time well. (Unlike vinyl!)
