The Welcome Wagon

Music is constantly playing in the JEK shop.  The latest addition to the playlist is The Welcome Wagon.  Some parts folk, some parts country, at times sounding like favourites Belle and Sebastian. Check them out!

The New Norton 961 Motorcycle

This absolutely stunning bike was at the Vancouver Motorcycle Show.  If I only had the money...

March Sign of the Month 7Up Sign

Here's a survivor.  You don't see these painted on walls much any more.  Come to think of it, I took this picture awhile ago so it could be painted over.

Napiers Antiques Pushbar Sign- February Sign of the Month

This is a pushbar I made for a local antique store, Napiers.  I've done a few signs for them over the years.  This one was fun to do, a mix of Wishing Well Soda and the Napier's logo.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

In the tradition of top ten lists, I've compiled my own Top Eleven Garage Listening Favourites.  Now these are in order according to as they come to mind.

11. All the old stuff! I've dug out some old cds by Oasis, The Who, Phish, Sloan, UK Subs, Voivod, etc and put them back into garage action!

10.  Ron Sexsmith- I didn't think much of this guy until I heard his music, and now I appreciate his strong sense of melody and well written lyrics.  The Long Player Late Bloomer album is a stand out.

9.  Trances Arc- I don't know much about this band, but I did have one song of their's, "Moto Guzzi", in heavy garage rotation.  Great song!  Especially nifty on those first few rides of the season on the V11.

8.  The Skydiggers-  Here again is a band that I never got into during their heyday, but after seeing them perform live last year I bought a few of their albums courtesy of iTunes and some used record stores.  Another garage staple for 2012.

7.  Brian Setzer- Stray Cats and solo stuff, but lately, mostly his solo stuff.

6.  Gram Parsons-  I found a copy of his GP solo record at my local vinyl merchant.  Good country folky rock.  And even better because its on vinyl!

5.  Scandanavian Music Group- Excellent band from Finland.  Interesting lyrics and great melodies and harmonies.  Well worth listening to, even if you don't understand Finnish.  Their Palatkaa Pariisiin album is their best.

4.  Samuli Edelmann- I just got his Maa on Niin Kaunis Virsia 3 album, and it is a great collection of new and old hymns from the Finnish hymnal.  Inspirational stuff!

3.  Ravi Zacharias- Let My People Think podcast- Ravi Zacharias continues to be an inspirational and thoughful/though provoking garage listen.  Highly recommended!

2.  Motorcyclist Radio- This highly entertaining podcast is often on in the garage.

1.  Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar- This old radio program about the man with the action-packed expense account has been in constant rotation from the past few months of garagery.

January Sign of the Month- Moto Guzzi Sign

This sign I did for a friend's garage and fellow Guzzi fan.
