What's Better Than An Old B.S.A.? Two Old B.S.A.'s!

Brother Tom swung by the shop on his way up north with this pair of pre-unit B.S.A singles. There is nothing cooler that old bikes in your pickup truck!

This is a Coke swamp cooler I did a couple of years ago. As you can see it was rough. I had already started sanding and filling in low spots.

Anderson Printing signage.

Here are two signs I did for Anderson Printing a while back. These were painted directly on the door and the wall. Thanks, Norm!

The Langley Cruise In.

These pictures were taken today at the annual Langley Cruise In car show. Over a thousand cars and tens of thousands of spectators were present. I did none of the beautiful paintjobs in these pictures.

The latest helmet.

I went with a metallic green for this old helmet. The helmet was painted with Auto Air airbrush paint and striped with One Shot enamel, before being clear coated.

The latest Kinkora Golf Course sign.

The sign is for a very picturesque golf course in Chilliwack. It is the second sign they commissioned me to do this summer. I had a lot of fun with this one, adding layers and details. Thanks, Jordie!

Go British shirt.

For a couple of years my brothers and I tried our hand at silkscreening. My older brother drew the designs, and I took care of the printing, along with my younger brother. The good folks at Ink Plus set me up with stencils and screens etc. and I was able to print up three different designs, all under the Go British moniker. These were sold at various locales, but I still have a few left. This example is my favourite design, as it is an update of an earlier drawing my brother did some twenty years ago, which also made it on a limited run t-shirt back then. Time flies!

BSA dealer sign.

This is another sign I lettered and sold at the local vintage bike swap meet. I found this piece of weathered and rough wood on a motorbike trip to the north end of Vancouver Island. I couldn't pass up the chance to put a vintage logo on it, and so I went with the BSA logo.

Bultaco sign.

This is a Bultaco sign that I lettered and sold to an enthusiast of the defunct Spanish marque at the local vintage motorcycle swap meet. One of my earliest motorcycle memories was of me sitting on my dad's Bultaco 350(?) and him doubling me around the dirt roads and trails near our house in the mid 1970's.

A nice variety of bikes and cars at Disaster Daze once again this year. That sure was a nice Ford Falcon (drool, drool).

These were some of the cool BSA motorcycles I saw at a local BSA bike night last summer. Very nice bikes!

This sign was done on hand-cut sheet aluminum, painted with a combination of Auto-Air airbrush colours and One-Shot lettering enamel, as well as clearcoat.

One of My Favourites

This was one of my favourite sign projects in recent years. This sign started out as a dealership sign for Massey-Harris tractors, but was painted over when the dealership changed hands and became a Ford car lot. As I stripped off the layers of paint, it was fascinating to discover each of the dealerships that had painted over the sign. My customer wanted the sign to look like an old Plymouth Chrysler dealer sign, so I did up the double sided sign accordingly. I used an old Chrysler car emblem as my model for the Chrysler script. Thank you Judy for shooting the light blue panels. It was hard to give this one back!

Boat Cruise Sign

This is a car I did on sheet styrene for a 50's themed bank boat cruise, some three or four (five?) years ago. I'll be adding some more old stuff to this site, as well as any new projects as they finish.

My new old paint and brush box.

This the side of an old sign painter's paint box I've begun to repaint. It belonged to a signpainter from the Island and is probably from the 1950's. It came with a ton of brushes, many still useable. I've decided to add my own treatment.

Old ice chest refrigerator from 1915

This was an interesting restoration project. Lots of dents to pull and old paint to scrape. Apparently it was to be a prop in the sequel to Night at the Museum, but I don't know if it made it into the film or not.
