I got the fairing off of craigslist, but you can pick these up off the net or order them through most bike shops. there was a bit of cutting involved to fit into the headlight ring which I did after this post, and the mounting hardware had to be adjusted to fit the mounting points on the headlight. also, the screen had to be trimmed in order to clear the brake master cylinder. overall it wasn't all that tricky, just a little time consuming, but I always enjoy spending time in the garage. cheers!
Just received my Emgo and have a 2008 SV650. Your bike looks amazing. My question is the "pod" holding the gauge cluster seems to hit the fairing preventing the fairing from seating against the headlight. Did you have to trim that part of the fairing as well as the master cylinder? Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your compliments about the bike. Check the post "SV 650 Custom Rear Seat Cowl Painted!" from 2012 February to see how it eventually turned out. This post shows the beginning stages of the project. I did have to trim the fairing to clear both the gauge cluster and the master cylinder, and then I trimmed the inside ring of the fairing to properly seat the fairing with the headlight. I used a Dremel tool with a small carbon cutting disk for the job. I found it was easier than a knife. If you're going for the café look, I highly recommend the Napoleon bar end mirrors, as they look great but function even better than the stock units, in my opinion. Good luck with it!
I love it! Where did you get the fairing and how hard was it to mount it?
