Rebuilding a Vintage 1980's Norco BMX Bike Part One

Here was an interesting challenge I undertook for a friend of mine.  The challenge was to turn this old 1980's Norco BMX bike of his into something a little more useable.  The bike had been sitting in his parent's barn for quite a few years, and it was in rough shape.  See pictures below:
